Once the student reaches Junior High School our focus changes somewhat to support them across their school’s curriculum, in their class work as well as in helping to develop skills in tackling assignments with the aim of achieving confidence and independence.
Again, many students come to us functioning below their cohort and continue to become ‘B’ and ‘A’ grade students. One lad started with us in Grade 7, having moved to Queensland from NSW and as a consequence of differing curriculum missed 6 crucial months of learning and struggled with passing grades. This year he gave us all a wonderful thrill when he began receiving ‘A’s and ‘B’s in Mathematics and Science!
Our Senior High School students are supported in specific subjects (such as English, Mathematics A, B and C, Physics and Chemistry) to achieve the best possible outcome in their school exit statements.
We encourage our High School students to develop skills in time management, particularly in assignment work and homework, as well as study skills to help them to be “study smart”.
